Blogger Sitemap and robots.txt
A sitemap is the path for search engines (Google, Yahoo, Bing) to crawl your web contents and index your contents in better way. If you don’t submit the sitemap and set your tobots.txt file; your site contents will not be reached to audience automatically. First I will disclose the sitemap and then the robots.txt for your blogger sites. It will be same as for custom domain and blogspot domain.
Blogger
Sitemap:
1. Login to your blogger account and go to
setting to find “Google Search Console” (you can go directly by the search
console web address and you can search on Google as Google search console. But
this process will be completed after verify your site or domain; if you want to
know how to verify domain property reply me by comment)
2. Click
on Sitemaps and you will get a field to “Add a new sitemap”.
3. Simply,
add there a) sitemap.xml
and submit & b) atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=500
and submit.
Blogger
Robots.txt:
1. Login
to your blogger account and go to setting to find “Enable custom robots header tags”
and on the enable button.
2. Now
you can generate custom robots.txt by third party website help only submitting
your domain url. There you will get the following results as like----
a) User-Agent:
* Allow: / (This for all
allow type)
b) User-Agent: *
Disallow: / (This for all disallow type)
c) User-Agent:
*Allow:/Search Allow:/ sitemap: http://www............=500
But if you set anyone without knowing proper, it will
generate errors of coverage issues and google may be stop indexing. So, after research I will
recommend to set the following robots.txt
User-agent: *
Disallow: /category/
Disallow: /tag/
Allow: /
Sitemap: Input Your site url/atom.xml?redirect=false&start-index=1&max-results=500
3. So set it on Custom
robots.txt field.
Ok, Almost Done. Go ahead and publish your contents as you want.
